Nereida Ochoa has a total of 18 years in education, all in Aldine. Seventeen of those years consisted of eight years as a bilingual teacher, two as a skills specialist, three as an assistant principal and six as a principal. She earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Texas at Brownsville and a Master’s of Education in Administration from Lamar University. This is her Sixth year as principal in Aldine and currently serving at Thompson Elementary.

Merly Serrano is overjoyed to serve the Thompson families, teachers, and community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as a Master’s of Education in Administration, degrees obtained from her beloved University of Houston. Go Coogs! This is her 2nd year as an assistant principal in Aldine, and previously she was honored to serve as a precalculus teacher at MacArthur High School for two years and at Bellaire High School in HISD for three years. She aspires to continue a legacy of excellence, equity, and hope for all students.

Angela Painter is embarking on her 12th year in education, having dedicated her career to serving the Aldine community. With a diverse range of experiences, Angela has excelled in teaching general education, English as a Second Language, and special education students. Her dedication and outstanding contributions to the field have earned her honors, including being named Teacher of the Year, ESL Teacher of the Year, and HAABSE Teacher of the Year for Houston.

Ms. Painter earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa, where she majored in Elementary Education. She has continued to pursue academic excellence by currently working towards her master’s degree in Administration & Supervision, while serving as Thompson’s Assistant Principal Resident Intern. She is thrilled to be a Thompson Tiger!
